My name is Mark Gold and I’ll be your student body president next year. I’m here to talk to you about one of the greatest services we offer on campus. That’s Transportation Services. But, to talk to you about parking, I’d like to try something a little different. Singing(tune of Backstreet Boys – I Want It That Way): Parking, is so great going to class, can’t be late So here are a few rules, remember these and you’ll be so cool Number one, buy a pass, the time is near Number two, stick it on your rearview mirror Number three, if it’s not a spot, please stay clear Welcome to Aggieland. We’re glad you’re here. So, as you can see, there are a lot of benefits to buying a parking pass. So, make sure you go online and register for your parking pass, and once you get it, stick it on your rearview mirror. And you’re allowed to park in that lot at any time during the year. Also, another benefit of having them is after 5, it’s considered night parking and if you have a pass, you can park in any lot on campus except for lots 30 and 40 because those are residential lots. But, the rule of thumb is if it’s not a spot, never park there, even if you have a pass. Lastly, if you registered for your pass and you didn’t get the one that you preferred. If you just wait and take the one that they give you, you’ll be put on a waiting list and as the year goes on, a lot of students will get bumped up the waiting list to eventually get upgraded to the pass that they wanted originally. So, just wait your time, and you’ll probably get upgraded to the one you want. And lastly, if ya’ll ever have any questions, please feel free to go to the website. It’s transport dot tamu dot edu or if you have any other questions about parking or anything else, um, please feel free to come see me any time in my office here in Koldus 126B. We are so glad ya’ll are here and I’m so excited to meet ya’ll in the fall. Thanks and gig ‘em. Transit Student Bus Driver Justin Crosby: Hi, my name is Justin Crosby, fighting Texas Aggie student bus driver. Here at Texas A&M, we’re proud to say that we have Aggie Spirit and we love helping fellow students, which is why more than 200 students like myself help to get you to and from class on time. Our Aggie Spirit bus fleet provides free transportation for students, faculty, staff and visitors. We provide both on and off-campus routes. Our off-campus routes transport you anywhere in the Bryan-College Station area such as grocery stores and apartment complexes and our on-campus routes help you get to and from main campus and west campus in a timely manner. For more information on times, routes and scheduling, you can visit our website at transport dot tamu dot edu. Thanks and gig ‘em. Head football coach Mike Sherman: Hey freshman, hope you’re having a great time out there at fish camp. I know those yell leaders are working you pretty hard. Make sure you learn all those yells because we’re gonna need everything you’ve got when you come back here for opening game. Presently, we’re in College Station working real hard getting ready for that football game and you as the 12th Man lead us on to victory and we’re looking forward to that. When you do get back, however, make sure that you do not park in 12th Man lots on game day because your car will get towed if it is there. And if you have any questions about that you can look online and see where the footballs are marked on the map and that’s where you can’t park. On game days, there’s a free game day shuttle that you can use. It’s called Get to the Grid! It’s located at Post Oak Mall so check that out as well if you’re looking for free parking or a free ride to the game. Transport dot tamu dot edu is our website so check that out for any questions. Gig ‘em Aggies. Student Advocate for Student Services Hunter Bowllman: Howdy ags! My name is Hunter Bowllman and I’m your Student Advocate of Student Services here at A&M. I’m here today to talk to you about bicycles. Bicycles are one of the quickest, easiest and most popular ways to get around campus. They’re great for going to class, going to the Rec or even getting on campus if you live nearby. We encourage each and every student to bring a bike on campus if you’d like to have one. They’re a great thing to have. We do ask though, two things. The first is when you’re done riding your bike, please make sure to park your bike in one of the numerous bike racks located conveniently across campus. In addition, when you park your bike on the bike rack, please make sure you lock your bike up so it doesn’t get misplaced or stolen and you can find it easily. For more information on the bike rules, where you can park your bike and where the numerous bike racks are, please see the Transportation Services website at transport dot tamu dot edu. Have a great rest of your time at fish camp. Thanks and gig ‘em. President, Residence Hall Association Dustin Grabsch: I’m here to talk to you a little about move-in and how that process is going to work. And there’s a few things that I want to inform you about. The first one is that your parents have been mailed a hard copy of the move-in map which shows all of our designated one-hour loading and unloading zones. And we ask that all the other rules regarding our other lots do apply. And so please be respectful and mindful of those different rules and regulations. But, the designated one-hour zones are definitely going to be emailed to you so please check your emails for that, as well as ask your parents for the hard copy map that you can bring with you when you come and journey to Aggieland. And the second, is that please, please visit the transport website for more information at transport dot tamu dot edu and will answer all the questions you might have regarding move-in and all those designated lot areas.
