What options will I have for accessing my
gated area (except Southside Garage, University Center Garage, and Lot 19 ** )?
|
All 2008-09 permits for gated areas will have a magnetic stripe on the back that
will allow the customer to swipe it through the reader to open the gate. Customers
select the method of access they prefer from any of the following options:
- Swipe your permit (details)
- Swipe your TAMU ID card (details)
- Use a hands-free transponder (where available)
Access Device Availability Chart
All access for new customers will be set up initially to swipe the permit to open
the gates. Customers will be able to log on to My Account and change their access method.
More on garage parking.
Ex: If you normally use a hands-free transponder but forgot to take it with you
when you switched vehicles, log on to My Account and change your access to either
swipe the permit or swipe your TAMU ID card. Then when you retrieve your hands-free
transponder, log back on to
My Account and change your access back. Your requested access
method should be activated within 45 minutes of the time you submit the request.
** Customers with permits for Southside Garage, University Center Garage, and
Lot 19:
The equipment in your facility enables you to change at will between access devices
without notifying our office. You may use either your permit, your TAMU ID card,
or your hands-free transponder to enter and exit your facility. The system will
allow only one vehicle per permit to be in the lot at any given time.

|
I already have a hands-free transponder. Will I get to keep
it for the new permit year?
|
Yes, if you renew your parking permit.
|
|
What if I am eligible to receive a hands-free transponder
(access device availability)
but do not yet have one?
|
Bring your picture ID to a cashier located in room 108 Koldus to request/purchase
one.
|
|
If I purchase a gated facility parking permit online, how
do I park until I receive a permit?
|
If you are moving to a new gated lot, your permit
is not valid in the lot until August 16, 2008. After August 16, if you have not
received your permit, print and display your receipt for the permit on your dashboard,
then log on to My
Account and change your access to swipe your TAMU ID. Your
TAMU ID should be activated within 45 minutes of the time you submit the request.
Prior to August 16, you may print and display your receipt for the permit on your
dashboard and park in Summer Lots.

|
My new Aggie ID does not work on the gate. What should I do?
|
Log on to My Account and verify that your access method is set to swipe your TAMU
ID. If it is not, then use this screen to change it. Your TAMU ID card should be
activated within 45 minutes of the time you submit the request.
If your access method is set to swipe your TAMU ID and it is not working, call 979.862.PARK
to request they investigate.
|
|
I have an old Aggie ID card. Do I need a new one?
|
No. However, if you want to use your Aggie ID card to access a gated lot, it must
have a magnetic stripe on the back side.
|
|
How do I get more information about Aggie ID cards?
|
Visit the Aggie ID Card Office website: http://finance.tamu.edu/sbs/aggiecard/aggiecardFAQ.asp

|
Are there numbered spaces in the garages?
|
Yes and No. Numbered spaces are available for faculty and staff
in the Northside and the University Center Garages. Customers without numbered spaces
may park in the first available non-restricted space above the visitor level(s).
|
|
Do I have to be an on-campus resident to request a garage
space?
|
No. Customers are not required to be residents to request garage parking.
|
|
If I have a garage permit, how do I know where to park?
|
All customers with garage permits must go above the visitor level(s) and pass through
the upper level gates to enter the permit holder section.
- If you have been assigned a space number, pass through the upper level gates, locate
your assigned space and park in it; you are authorized to park in your assigned
space only.
- If you do not have an assigned space number, pass through the upper level gates
and park in any unnumbered space you desire. Do not park in handicap spaces unless
you are displaying the appropriate disabled parking placard or license plate in
addition to your TAMU permit.
