Assignment Process
What are the permit assignment priorities?
  1. Current parking permit holders who request to be assigned to the SAME LOT via the web registration process by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008.
  2. Current parking permit holders who are displaced due to permanent lot closures. Assignments will be made in this priority category in customer group order on a space available basis.
  3. Faculty and Staff who are:
    • Current parking permit holders, who request to be assigned to a different lot, and who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in hire date order on a space available basis.
    • Non-parking permit holders who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in hire date order on a space available basis.
  4. Graduate students who are:
    • Current parking permit holders, who request to be assigned to a different lot, and who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in current class standing order on a space available basis.
    • Non-parking permit holders who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in current class standing order on a space available basis.
  5. Undergraduate students who are:
    • Current parking permit holders, who request to be assigned to a different lot, and who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in current class standing order on a space available basis.
    • Non-parking permit holders who register via the web by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in current class standing order on a space available basis.
  6. Students who register for a 2008-2009 parking permit after the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008. Assignments will be made in this priority category in date of application order on a space available basis. First come first served.

NOTE: Resident Students will be given priority above non resident students in Northside Garage, Southside Garage, West Campus Garage, lot 40, lot 30, and University Apartments.Non-resident undergraduate students with West Campus Resident, Northside Garage, Southside Garage, lot 40 or lot 30 permits will not be eligible to renew these permits.

Students who have not completed enough hours to register as a sophomore will be in a higher priority category than incoming freshmen with no hours, just by their status as a "renewal" customer. Renewals have a higher priority than new requests. The only case where this would not be true is if the customer does not currently own a permit.

Students who miss the application deadline will be considered in a lower priority group based on the date of receipt of their application. For example, an individual who currently holds a permit and requests to be assigned to the same location, but whose application is received on August 1, 2008 (17 days after the deadline) will be considered for assignment along with applicants in priority group 6 after those permit holders who requested the same lot, requested to change lots, and new applicants who applied by the 5p.m. deadline on July 15, 2008 have been assigned. In this case it is unlikely this individual would receive a parking assignment back into their current lot location.

Parking assignments to a lot other than the top preference listed by the applicant during the application process will result in the individual's name being added in assignment priority order to a waiting list for each of their preferred lots. Waiting lists will be maintained/managed until next year’s registration begins again. Individuals whose names reach the top of the waiting list for a lot with a vacancy will be contacted and offered the opportunity to change/purchase locations.

Current permit holders requesting to change lots will be allowed six choices. If Transportation Services is unable to assign one of your six choices you will be given the guaranteed option you selected during registration.

Six choices are allowed for new requests. Transportation Services STRONGLY ENCOURAGES you to select only the lots where you want to park. Transportation Services will not assign you to a lot you did not choose.
What if I have to change my location before the end of the summer? Students will not need a permit change during the summer months since the summer parking plan allows customers to move to other designated lots (map).

Faculty/Staff should bring current permit and a picture ID to a cashier in 108 Koldus to request the appropriate new permit; then log on to My Account to request to renew for the updated location.
