Position Title Student Technician
Work Days/Times Monday, Wednesday & Friday 2pm-5pm, Tuesday & Thursday 8am-5pm, Prefer 3 or 4 hour blocks during these hours
Major/Essential Duties of Job Assist the IT Team with resolving helpdesk and computer hardware issues for TS desktops and networks. Including the following duties: Troubleshoot/repair hardware and software issues for Windows PCs, iOS, and Android devices; install and configure computers and printers; provide troubleshooting and maintenance for networks; creating online incidents via a service desk application; other duties as required or assigned by staff; must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized; superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers; able to multitask; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups; proficiency in the use of personal computers; must be able to effectively handle stressful situations. Starting Salary will be $10.00 an hour. $15.00 an hour will be paid on Football game events only.
Qualifications Must have a good driving record, strong people skills, strong verbal and written skills. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be eligible to work in the US. Must be enrolled as a student for a minimum of 9 hours per semester excluding (Summer Session) at TAMU, Blinn, Sam Houston etc. Must work an average of 12 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Must work a minimum of 6 special events during the fall and 1 during the spring in addition to the minimum of 12 hours worked per week. Transportation Services welcomes work study participants.
Preferred Qualifications In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. A good understanding of installing and removing software; working knowledge of computer hardware components. Must be able to work majority of the hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Other Instructions There may be some opportunities to work outside the normal work hours to resolve issues and assist with maintenance or software upgrades. Must include 3 non-related references. Must attach a resume and graphical class schedule with class times. Position will include lifting of computer equipment and crawling on the floor or under desks to install computers and peripherals.
Salary $10.00/hr (eligible for student employee pay plan)
