How does the wait list work? The wait list maintains the lot choices you provided during web registration. The order of your lot choices matters. Your first choices should be the lot you want most and sixth choice the one you least want. The wait list always tries to assign the highest wait list choice. You will remain on the wait list for the choices above the one you received. Examples – if you get your 1st choice – then you are no longer on any wait list. If you get your 2nd choice – then you are on the wait list for 1st choice only. If you get your 6th choice – then you are on the wait list for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th choices.
What if I don’t get any of my choices? During the registration process, you will be given the opportunity to select one of six options so that we will know your preference if you don’t get any of your choices: 1) don’t give me a permit at all 2) issue me a Lot 100 permit 3) issue me a WCG permit 4) issue me a night permit 5) issue me a motorcycle permit 6) issue me a permit for my old lot (if you have a current year permit). You will be notified by email when a lot on your wait list has space and a permit is available.
Transportation Services will not assign you to a lot you did not request.
I did not receive my first choice. When can I get it and how will I be notified? Once your name comes to the top of the list for your preferred lot, you will be notified via an email sent to your TAMU Email account and will be given a deadline to purchase the permit. You can view your progress online via the parking registration page. For future assignment and notification dates, please view the Wait List Move Calendar. Other information on this page may help you to determine how long it may take for you to receive your preferred lot.
Does my position on the current wait list effect my position on the 2009-10 wait list?
No. The current wait list will be reset with the parking request from fall 2010 registration. All wait lists will be reset annually.
How can I change my options on the wait list? Log on to the parking registration page and follow the directions to submit changes.
I have requested to change my wait list. How long will it take to process and how will I know that you received my request? Throughout the year, wait lists changes are usually processed within 48 hours. During the months of August and September, it may take up to 5 business days. Once complete, your new lot selection will be reflected with position # 0 and can be viewed via the parking registration page. After the next scheduled wait list move, is complete, your position # will reflect your actual position on the list. You position # will change each time more permits are offered for the lot. Once your name comes to the top of the list for your preferred lot, you will be notified via an email sent to your TAMU Email account and will be given a deadline to purchase the permit. For future assignment and notification dates, please view the Wait List Move Calendar. The wait list is updated every 2 weeks. Other information on this page may help you to determine how long it may take for you to receive your preferred lot.
I have a permit for a lot with residential priority (Lots 30 and 40, Northside Garage, Southside Garage) but won't be living on-campus next year. Will I be guaranteed to renew my permit? No. Non-resident undergraduate students currently assigned to park in Northside Garage, Southside Garage, Lot 40 or Lot 30 will not be eligible to renew these permits; customers in this situation may register for the permit they have for the current year but will not be guaranteed to renew. They will be added to the list according to the priority assignment process, option #5 which read:
Current parking permit holders, who request to be assigned to a different lot, and who register via the web by July 15, 2009. Assignments will be made in this priority category in current class standing order on a space available basis.
Non-resident undergraduate students with West Campus Resident permits will not be eligible to renew these permits; these customers may still obtain a permit for West Campus Garage but will not be issued the resident permit that affords home football game day parking.
I’m a freshman south side resident and I don’t want to bring my car to campus until I can park by my dorm. What should I do? Register for Lot 40 and Southside Garage in your preferred order for your 1st and 2nd choices.. These are the only permits you will request. Select "No Permit" as your guaranteed option. If you are not assigned a permit you will be on the wait list for your choices. Your progress on the wait list can be monitored on the parking registration page and an email will be sent to you if space becomes available.
I’m a freshman north side resident and I want to bring my car to campus and will park anywhere – but I really want to park by my dorm. What should I do? Register for Lot 30 and Northside Garage in your preferred order for your 1st and 2nd choices. Once you have made these selections, you will be given the opportunity to choose one of six "guaranteed" options so that we will know your preference if you don’t get any of your choices. Select WCG as your guaranteed option. Your progress on the wait list can be monitored on the parking registration page and an email will be sent to you if space becomes available.
I’m a freshman and currently have a lot 100 permit, I want to park in Lot 50 next year. What should I do? Choose change and make Lot 50 your first choice, then you will be given the opportunity to choose one of six "guaranteed" options so that we will know your preference if you don’t get any of your choices. You will not get into Lot 50 initially so select "My Current Permit" to keep a Lot 100 permit until your name comes to the top of the Lot 50 list. Your progress on the wait list can be monitored on the parking registration page and an email will be sent to you when space becomes available.
I’m a current Lot 48 permit holder and want to keep it for next year. What should I do? Log on to the parking registration page between April 8th and July 15th and click Renew and complete the process. Your permit will be mailed to the address you have chosen.
I forgot to complete registration before it closed on July 15th. What should I do? Log on to My Account to purchase a permit for Lot 100, then log on to the wait list registration page beginning July 30th and complete the process to make your selections to be added to the wait list. Requests received during late registration are processed in the order in which they are received and customers are not given priority based upon classification.
