I have not received my housing assignment but want to
register for parking. What do I do?
|
Housing assignments should be made by July 11; permit registration does not end until July 15 at 5p.m. You may register for parking before receiving your housing assignment but it is CRITICAL that you log back on to the registration page and change your parking request if your dorm assignment and parking requests do not match. |
|
I did not complete my on-campus housing contract before
parking registration closed. How can I tell if I have been given residential priority
for my parking request?
|
Send and email inquiry to .
Once the University confirms your on-campus housing assignment, your wait list request
and parking account will be reviewed and adjusted if necessary.

Which lots are recommended for resident
students?
|
Lot 30 and the Northside Garage (NSG) are recommended for students living in north area dorms however there is not room to assign all north side residents parking in these areas. The West Campus Garage (WCG) is a good third choice because students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility on home football game days.
Lot 40 and Southside Garage (SSG) are recommended for students living in south area dorms however there is not room to assign all south side residents parking in these areas. The West Campus Garage (WCG) is a good third choice because students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility on home football game days.

Which lots are not recommended for resident students?
|
Overnight parking is not allowed in Lot 100. We will substitute the West Campus
Garage for residents who chose Lot 100 during permit registration. Residents will
not be allowed to choose Lot 100 since no overnight parking is allowed. Resident
students are being offered permits for West Campus Garage for the same price as
surface lot parking: $240! Residents parking in the West Campus Garage instead of
Lot 100 will enjoy:
- not having to move vehicles from their assigned parking area for the numerous athletic
and special events held on West Campus;
- being able to park in the West Campus Garage and at the same rate as surface lot
parking;
- covered parking;
- parking closer to residence halls with immediate access to the underground passageway
for quick, safe access to main campus;
- being able to leave their vehicles or re-enter West Campus Garage on home football
game days without paying for game day parking.

|
Can resident students park in West Campus Garage
on home football game days?
|
Yes. Customers with residential permits for West Campus Garage may leave their vehicles
in the garage and/or re-enter the garage on game day without paying.
|
|
I am not able to choose all of the resident lots when
I am trying to register. Why not?
|
The parking registration system will not allow a customer to choose all of the residential
areas. It restricts customers to selections on either the north side of campus (lot
30 and NSG) or on the south side of campus (lot 40 and SSG).
|
|
What does “residential priority” mean?
|
Parking requests for lot 30, lot 40, Northside Garage, Southside Garage, and West
Campus Garage from students who are registered to live in an on-campus dorm are
processed and fulfilled before requests from students who are not registered to
live on-campus.
|
I’m a new freshman resident and I have priority
in lot 30, Northside Garage, lot 40, Southside Garage, and West Campus Garage –
will I get a residential space?
|
More than 2000 residents will park on west campus at the beginning of the year.
There simply is not room for all residents who want permits to park in 30, Northside,
40 and Southside. West Campus Garage is the best alternative because cars do not
need to be moved for football games.

|
How can I safely get to my dorm if I am assigned to park
on west campus?
|
TAMU is ranked as one of the safest campuses in the nation. It is still prudent
to use caution.
- There is safety in numbers. Travel with a buddy.
- Use the on-campus and
night/weekend bus service
to get back to your dorm.
- Ride your bike between your lot and your dorm.
- Call for an escort from the corps to walk with you to your dorm. The phone number
is printed on the back of your TAMU student ID card: 979-845-6789. See http://www.tamu.edu/upd/escort.htm for more information.
|
|
Can I be reassigned to park closer to my dorm?
|
You will be moved to a lot nearer your dorm as soon as your name comes to the top
of the wait list for that area. We will run the wait lists every 1-2 weeks. Wait List Move Calendar
|
|
What if I did not request the lot/garage closest to my dorm
when I completed my parking registration but I want it now?
|
Log on to My Account and request to change your wait list to the lot/garage you prefer. |
|
Can students park anywhere on nights and weekends?
|
Privileges to park in unrestricted or plain marked spaces in other lots except lot 30 and lot 40 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. are included with all valid TAMU permits.
No permit is required in unrestricted or plain marked spaces on Saturday, Sunday or days when the University is officially closed. Exceptions include the golf lot, special event parking and athletic events. Notification will be posted at the entrance to the lot(s) for these types of events.
The night privilege hours are strictly enforced. Parking permits must be displayed during the hours that night privileges are in effect. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING IS ALLOWED IN LOT 100. More about Night & Weekend Parking

|
During move-in, do I need to have a permit to park in the
1-hour loading zones for the dorms?
|
Permits are not required to park in the timed parking areas on campus. Once you have unloaded, move your vehicle to your assigned lot and display your parking permit. If you (or your parents) do not have a parking permit, move your vehicle to lot 100, near Reed Arena. During move-in, shuttle service will be provided between the dorms and Reed Arena (More). Permits are required by the first class day.
