A New Direction For Transportation Services

Visitors to Texas A&M this fall will be greeted by several major improvements to campus, not the least of which is the newly named Transportation Services department. Many former students will remember it as Parking, Traffic, and Transportation Services.

More important than the name change is the change in the departmental focus toward customer service and convenience. Visitors here for football games will notice this as they arrive at Kyle Field through the new Pedestrian Passageway, which connects the main campus to the new 3,800 space West Campus Garage and provides safe passage for pedestrians to the entire West Campus area. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for September 5th, in conjunction with First Yell activities and the excitement of this year’s home football games. Adding to the fun and excitement will be various student organizations and local music talent lining the openings to the passageway to welcome fans. In addition to these two new facilities, Transportation Services also has taken a proactive approach to easing the game-day traffic and parking uncertainty by offering free express service in the front of game-day shuttles from Post Oak Mall. These shuttles will provide transportation to campus beginning two hours prior to game time and then transportation back to the mall parking area for up to two hours after the game.
