TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY - A popular Texas A&M shuttle service to and from Kyle Field on football game days will not be relocated to College Station's Veterans Park, according to sources citing a top A&M official.
According to multiple people in Monday night's faculty senate meeting, A&M Provost Karan Watson told faculty leaders that Veterans Park and Athletic Complex was "off the table" as an option for Get to the Grid.
If the shuttle service had gone to the park, Brazos Valley Youth Soccer Association games played by hundreds of local children would have likely had to move for no less than four Saturday games or cancel games to accommodate the hundreds of riders of the shuttle service.
The City of College Station's council had not finalized any plans and would have the final say on any site for Get to the Grid if the university wants to locate it in that city.
Post Oak Mall informed the university in December that it did not want to continue hosting Get to the Grid.
According to those in the faculty senate meeting Monday, Watson said she hoped to have a solution by week's end.
A university spokesperson and a spokesperson for the City of College Station could not confirm Watson's comments Monday night.
