COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - This Saturday marks the start of the Texas A&M football season and the Aggies will kick off against Notre Dame here at Kyle Field. But, getting to the grid may seem a little tricky.
For those attending the first home game of the season, there are several options for free and prepaid parking on and off campus.
If you want to ditch your car, you can choose from shuttles with pick-up locations all around town.
On Texas A&M’s campus there are 10 prepaid parking garages or lots with shuttle routes available.
If you have a Texas A&M permit, you can park in any valid Texas A&M parking lots and garages.
With an influx of visitors during game day, Tad Fifer with Texas A&M Transportation Services told KBTX there will be partial road closures near Kyle Field where pregame road closures begin 4-and-a-half hours before the game.
Paths near Kyle Field, including parts of Houston Street and Joe Routt Boulevard, will be closed.
Post-game road closures begin near the start of the fourth quarter in preparation for post-game traffic where law enforcement will be on scene to direct traffic.
“Most shuttle drop-off locations are near Kyle Field but not all of them get right next to Kyle Field, so there may be a brief walk, so just be prepared for that,” warned Fifer.

The City of Bryan also has free shuttles from Downtown Bryan to the Memorial Student Center on campus. If you’re planning to park in Downtown Bryan, you can pay $5 in the Roy Kelly Parking Garage or there’s free parking around downtown.
“There’s about 1,200 available parking spots in downtown and $5 at the garage, or you can park for free at any of the municipal surface lots in downtown as well,” John Friebele with Destination Bryan said.

The City of College Station has free parking at its tailgate next to College Station City Hall, where ground shuttles will take fans to campus.
The tailgate will start at 3:30 p.m. and the shuttles will begin departing for campus at 4:30 p.m.
“Ground shuttles will be running those for us specifically, so when you come in to the tailgate, you’ll get a wristband and that wristband will get you on the shuttle. They’ll drop off over near the stadium,” detailed Jeremiah Cook with Visit College Station.
Shuttles will also run from Century Square to campus.
Game day shuttles in Bryan-College Station’s Century Square, and on-campus, will start running three hours before the game and one hour after the game.
KBTX also spoke with Lieutenant Kathryn Reiter with the College Station Police Department who said they are helping direct traffic on game day weekends:
“We are excited for the start of Aggie football and are preparing for the influx of visitors that is expected this weekend. We will have an increased number of officers available to assist with activities in and around campus and the Northgate area for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We ask that all our citizens, students, and visitors drink responsibly and get sober rides to ensure everyone gets home safe this weekend.”
