Major/Essential Duties of Job
The Parking Systems Technician I, under direction, is responsible for providing standard support for various systems employed in parking related facilities, including, but not limited to parking access and revenue control, license plate recognition, parking guidance systems, video surveillance, and intercoms. Individuals in this role will be responsible for ensuring routine functional operations for parking systems, hardware and software and will be cross-trained with other team members, which will allow them to gain vast experience with maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing various types of systems. Persons in this position will be required to serve in a rotating on-call schedule for technical issues with the supported systems that may need to be addressed outside normal work hours. Staff may also be scheduled on Saturday home football games as needed for technical assistance. Please be aware that this position will also require frequent work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time for maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and installation tasks, which can include working in extreme heights and in manholes and other confined spaces. This will be an hourly paid position with a starting rate of $28.37/hour. Required Licenses and Certifications: Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General electrical, electronic, and mechanical aptitude. Ability to work with general electrical and electronic diagnostic equipment. Ability to work with hand and power tools. Ability to use a voltmeter. Ability to use a people lift. Ability to operate a vehicle while safely towing and maneuvering a trailer. Ability to work with general office computer applications (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Customer-service oriented. Conflict resolution abilities. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of parking, LPR and surveillance systems. T2 Systems and Genetec are preferred. Responsibilities: Customer and Systems Support- Provides advanced support for enterprise-wide parking, surveillance, License Plate Recognition (LPR), and related systems, serving as a liaison for issue remediation. Coordinates the monitoring of parking systems, coordinates diagnostic tests, and reports on performance levels. Designs, reviews, and analyzes voice communications systems, making suggestions to stakeholders for software and hardware solutions, ensuring uninterrupted access to communication systems. Reports system specifications for upgrades and facilitates upgrade schedules with internal or external stakeholders. Collaborates with vendors on parking services issues. May assist with vendor selection. Produces advanced reports and summaries for management and users, including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries and system utilization reports. Creates and maintains comprehensive system and process documentation, offering technical expertise and training for problem research and solution formulation. Maintenance & Repair- Perform advanced and complex preventative maintenance of Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS), video surveillance, and voice communications technologies to ensure reliable operations. Troubleshoots and facilitates repairs for complex equipment issues. Provide advanced technical support and guidance on monitoring and maintaining system performance, ranging from fixing broken gate arms to identifying and correcting complex equipment configuration issues. Installation- Performs the installation of technologies related to PARCS, video surveillance, voice communications, supporting technologies and on various field hardware installations. Physical Requirements: Position is frequently required to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time for maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and installation tasks. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects. Ability to climb ladders and work in extreme heights. Ability to work in manholes, other confined spaces, and heights.
Occasional Duties
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience in telecommunications, parking systems, information technology or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
Knowledge of parking, LPR and surveillance systems. T2 Systems and Genetec are preferred.
