Major/Essential Duties of Job
The Vehicle Shop Supervisor is responsible for supervising the repair and maintenance of buses, heavy equipment and other vehicles as assigned, handling personnel matters concerning technicians and student workers, and providing quality, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance for all customers.
Occasional Duties
The selected candidate must have the ability to climb stairs, work in hot and cold weather conditions, stand for extended periods of time, and lift and/or move moderate to heavy weight objects. Them must also be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays with little or no notice as job requires. This position will be covered by DOT regulations and be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool.
Required Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience High School graduation or any equivalent combination of education and experience Six years’ experience in gasoline or diesel-engine vehicle repair, including two or more years supervisory experience. Required Licenses and Certifications Must have a valid vehicle operator's license and good driving record. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "B" vehicle operator's license (Commercial driver License with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement) within 60 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Qualifications An associate’s degree in business administration, vocational training in automotive or diesel work. Two years in a supervisory position of five or more employees in general automotive or diesel repair, Experience as a foreman, shop supervisor and/or lead technician in gasoline or diesel automotive repair are preferred. Additional preferred qualifications exhibited by our ideal candidate include demonstrated leadership ability, ability to identify and resolve customer problems, self-starter, and goal oriented.
Comments to Applicants
The work hours for this position are on a rotating schedule either monthly or quarterly between morning and night shift. Morning shift is from 6am - 3pm, Night shift is from 1pm - 10pm. This position will be covered by DOT regulations and be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool.
