Maps Available To Assist With Football Game Day Parking

COLLEGE STATION, August 9, 2010 — Football fans visiting the Texas A&M University campus this season are encouraged by Transportation Services officials to familiarize themselves with the 2010 football season parking map located on the Transportation Services website at https://transport.tamu.edu/football.

They add that those who have attended home football games in the past will notice an increase in the available pay parking and game day shuttles from various parking areas to Kyle Field will be in service again this year.

A slight change has been made in traffic access near Spence Park, an area reserved for tailgating during games, for the upcoming season.  The new plan is to control Houston St. during the game and, as a reminder, it is 12th Man C permits only three and a half hour before the game and one hour post game.  They say the change will reduce the amount of vehicular traffic in the area thereby providing a safer pedestrian area between Spence Park and Kyle Field as well as providing enhanced flow of post game traffic in the area.  The process that is already in place for C lot permit holders pre-game will simply continue through the game. There are 15 minute unloading/loading zones for Spence Park tailgating activities along Throckmorton, south of University Center Garage.  As in recent years, this area may be accessed before and during the game.

As most lots close to Kyle Field are reserved for 12th Man permit holders, public pay parking lots have been opened on the perimeter of campus, forming six main areas. Free game day shuttles run throughout campus from these areas to Throckmorton Street, the Memorial Student Center area and the west campus entrance to the pedestrian passageway that leads to Kyle Field and the Zone area. A map of shuttle routes and times can be found online at: https://transport.tamu.edu/maps/events/football/oncampusbusgameday.pdf.

Area 1 parking is designated on the east side of campus where public parking is available in the lots near the Bonfire Memorial, including Lot 54 near the Administration Building, for $10. A free shuttle runs along Bizzell to the Trigon/Memorial Student Center (MSC) area. Public disabled parking is also available in this area (Lot 50) with shuttle to the MSC/ Fan Zone.  This shuttle runs three hours pre-game and one hour post-game.

Area 2 parking is designated in the Central Campus Garage, located near the Evans Library, for $15. This garage is a short distance to the Corps of Cadets residence halls and Fan Zone.

Area 3 parking is on the southwest side of campus, near the Bush Library and off John Kimbrough Blvd, and it includes several $10 pay lots. Drivers are asked to watch for public pay parking signs and cashiers in this area.  A free shuttle runs from these areas to the west campus entrance of the pedestrian passageway, which takes pedestrians to Kyle Field.  This shuttle runs five hours pre-game and one hour post-game.

Area 4 public parking is available in West Campus Garage for $20. This garage is conveniently located next to the pedestrian passageway.

Area 5 parking is on the northwest corner of campus and provides public parking in lots north of University Drive near the Veterinary Medical Center and south of University Drive near Medical Sciences for $10.  Drivers are asked to watch for signs and cashiers. Free shuttles run from these areas to the Memorial Student Center three hours pre-game and one hour post-game.

Area 6 is located in the Northside Garage, which is available for $10 and is located on the north side of campus off University Drive.  There are no shuttles from the garage.

For those who prefer to park off campus, Transportation Services provides a free game-day shuttle from/to Post Oak Mall. The shuttle runs for three hours prior to kick-off and for one hour after the game ends.  Fans are dropped off and picked up on Lubbock Street in front of the Corps of Cadets residence halls. Visitors should note that University Center Garage is reserved parking only; no public parking will be available on game days other than disabled parking.  (Disabled placards will be checked by a uniformed police officer.)  Additional public disabled parking is available in lot 50, and West Campus Garage. A map is available at https://transport.tamu.edu/football. Post game traffic plans are also posted at https://transport.tamu.edu/maps/events/football/gogreen.pdf.

Fans are asked to observe directional signage and watch for personnel providing traffic direction.  Vehicles will be directed away from campus instead of reentering heavy traffic areas within campus.
