The International Parking Institute (IPI) recognized Texas A&M University’s Transportation Services for having one of the outstanding marketing and communications programs in the parking sector. The announcement was made during the 2014 IPI Conference and Expo in Dallas.

IPI officials say winners of this inaugural Parking Matters® Marketing and Communications Award helped advance the parking profession, educated audiences about the value of parking expertise, communicated about parking and transportation options and technologies, improved parking efficiencies, or otherwise communicated positive parking messages.

"We launched this awards program to recognize organizations that are improving the image of parking through their own efforts," explained Shawn D. Conrad, CAE, IPI executive director. "Productive marketing tells a story that builds a customer base, boosts revenue, and supports communications goals. Each of our winners did that in ways that were creative, strategic, and effective."

According to June Hood, manager of Marketing and Communications for Texas A&M Transportation Services, "Reaching out to Key Stakeholders with Targeted Messaging", successfully introduces customers to recent product offerings and green initiatives while reinforcing the strength of the Texas A&M brand.

Texas A&M Transportation Services has been honored by IPI in the past as the Parking Organization of the Year in 2009, and with Supervisor of the Year awarded to Hood in 2012. The department was also recognized as the Innovative Organization of the Year by the National Parking Association in 2012.
