Penberthy Boulevard has been widened from two lanes to four from George Bush Drive to John Kimbrough Boulevard. This improves traffic flow on west campus during peak hours and events and will provide an alternate route when TxDOT construction begins on the Bush-Wellborn Crossing in 2027.

Penberthy Boulevard has been widened from two lanes to four from George Bush Drive to John Kimbrough Boulevard.
This rendering illustrates the additional lanes and expanded multiuse pathways.
Multiuse pathways and street lighting are also being added.
The east side of Penberthy Boulevard features a 15-foot multiuse path designed with enhanced safety features at parking lot drive lanes to heighten driver awareness to watch for pedestrians and cyclists on the path.
The west side of Penberthy Boulevard now features a 20-foot multiuse path for wheeled devices and pedestrians. Construction on this pathway is expected to be complete in time for the spring 2026 semester.
This project includes lighted paths for increased visibility.
Pathways on both sides of the road have been expanded.
This project aligns with other roadwork projects in College Station.
With the future extension of Jones-Butler Road continuing beneath Harvey Mitchell Parkway, an additional direct path from campus is being created parallel to Wellborn Road.
The widening of Penberthy Boulevard will provide an alternate route when TxDOT construction begins on the Bush-Wellborn Crossing in 2027.
Future roadwork will establish a corridor to south College Station neighborhoods.
