I have not received my housing assignment but want to register for parking. What do I do?

Housing assignments should be made before the first week of July; permit registration does not end until July 9, 2024. You may register for parking before receiving your housing assignment but it is CRITICAL that you change your registration parking requests if your dorm assignment and parking requests do not match.

I did not complete my on-campus housing contract before parking registration closed. How can I tell if I have been given residential priority for my parking request?

Once the University confirms your on-campus housing assignment, your parking account will be updated. Please send an email inquiry to parking@tamu.edu and you will be accommodated in Lot 99, Lot 122 (limited availability) or West Campus Garage, depending on where you will be living.

Which lots are recommended for resident students?

Lot 30 and Northside Garage (NSG) are recommended for students living in north area dorms, however due to the high demand, not all Northside residents will be assigned one of these areas, and must add themselves to the wait list. The West Campus Garage (WCG) is a good third choice because students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility for home football games, but they are required to move their vehicles to level P5 and above before 6am on game days.

Lot 40 and Southside Garage (SSG) are recommended for students living in south area dorms, however due to the high demand, not all Southside residents will be assigned one of these areas, and must add themselves to the wait list. The West Campus Garage (WCG) is a good third choice because students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility on home football games, but they are required to move their vehicles to level P5 and above before 6am on game days.

Lot 99 is recommended for students living at the Gardens Apartments. Students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility for home football games.

Lot 122 is recommended for students living at the White Creek Apartments. Students are not required to move their vehicles from this facility for home football games.

Which lots are not recommended for resident students?

Lot 100 is not assigned to resident students because overnight parking is not allowed in that lot. Polo Rd. Garage and Gene Stallings Blvd. Garage are not assigned to resident students because these garages are used on home football games and residents would be required to move their vehicles out of the garage on game days. A West Campus Garage permit will automatically be substituted for those residents who chose Lot 100, Gene Stallings Blvd. Garage or Polo Rd. Garage during permit registration.

Advantages of West Campus Garage compared to Lot 100, Gene Stallings Blvd. Garage or Polo Rd. Garage for resident students are:

1. Not required to move vehicle during numerous athletic and special events
2. Covered parking
3. Closer proximity to residence halls with immediate access to the underground passageway for quick and safe access to main campus
4. Privilege of leaving vehicle in or re-entering West Campus Garage during home football games without having to pay for parking. Please note that residents with WCR permits are required to park on level P5 and above in West Campus Garage before 6am on game days.

Can resident students park in West Campus Garage on home football gamedays?

Yes. Customers with residential permits for West Campus Garage (WCR) may leave their vehicles in the garage and/or re-enter the garage on gameday without paying. Please note that residents with WCR permits are required to park on level P5 and above in West Campus Garage before 6am on game days.

I am not able to choose all of the resident lots when I am trying to register. Why not?

The parking registration system will not allow a customer to choose all of the residential areas. It restricts customers to selections on either the north side of campus (Lot 30 and NSG) or on the south side of campus (Lot 40 and SSG) or White Creek Apartments (Lot 122).

What does “residential priority” mean?

Parking requests for Lot 30, Lot 40, Lot 99, Lot 122, Northside Garage, Southside Garage, and West Campus Garage from students who are registered to live in an on-campus dorm are processed and fulfilled before requests from students who are not registered to live on-campus.

I’m a new freshman resident and I have priority in Lot 30, Northside Garage, Lot 40, Southside Garage, and West Campus Garage – will I get a residential space?

More than 1000 residents will park on west campus at the beginning of the year. There simply is not room for all residents who want permits to park in Lots 30, 40, 122, Northside and Southside garages. West Campus Garage is the best alternative because cars do not need to be moved for home football games. Please note that residents with WCR permits are required to park on level P5 and above in West Campus Garage before 6am on game days.

How can I safely get to my dorm if I am assigned to park on west campus?

Texas A&M University is ranked as one of the safest campuses in the nation. It is still prudent to use caution.

1. There is safety in numbers. Travel with a buddy.
2. Use the on-campus and night/weekend bus service to get back to your dorm.
3. Ride your bike between your lot and your dorm.

Can I be reassigned to park closer to my dorm?

Students must be on a wait list for the residential areas requested if they do not receive the permit as a result of registration. Wait lists are moved weekly and individuals whose names reach the top of the wait list for a lot with a vacancy will be contacted via Texas A&M email and offered the opportunity to exchange or purchase the new permit by a given deadline. What if I did not request the lot/garage closest to my dorm when I completed my parking registration but I want it now?

Login to My Account and add any available lots/garages you prefer to your wait list. Many lots/garages will no longer be available because the lists developed during registration are so lengthy that we are unable to fulfill any additional requests.

Can students park anywhere on nights and weekends?

All Texas A&M permits allow parking privileges in unrestricted/unnumbered spaces from 5pm - 6am Monday through Friday as designated by the Night & Weekend Parking Map. Parking permits must be displayed during the hours that night privileges are in effect. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING IS ALLOWED IN LOT 100 BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 2 AM AND 5 AM.

No permit is required in unrestricted/unnumbered spaces on Saturday, Sunday or days when the University is officially closed. Exceptions include the golf lot, special event parking and athletic events. Notifications are posted at the entrance to the lot(s) affected during these events.

During move-in, do I need to have a permit to park in the one-hour loading zones for the dorms?

Permits are not required to park in the timed parking areas on campus. During Move-in, once you have unloaded, move your vehicle to your assigned lot. If you (or your parents) do not have a parking permit, move your vehicle to Lot 100, near Reed Arena. During Move-In, shuttle service will be provided between the dorms and Reed Arena. Permits ARE required on the first class day.
