Diesel Mechanic Intern
Work Days/Times
Monday - Friday; 4+ hour time blocks within 13:00 – 22:00
Major/Essential Duties of Job
Performs semi-skilled maintenance on gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes. Replaces parts (ex. exhaust systems, batteries, belts, hoses, etc.). Repairs and replaces tires. Completes and updates manual and computerized service orders. Performs preventative maintenance inspections. Assures shop area is always kept clean and without clutter.

Qualifications
Must have a valid Class C driver's license and good driving record. Current enrollment in a diesel mechanic program . Base knowledge of engine and heavy-duty vehicle systems. Base knowledge of basic hand tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with maintenance management software. Experience with diagnostic software. Class B CDL with air brakes and passenger endorsement preferred. Significant working knowledge of engine and drivetrain components. General understanding of automotive maintenance and repair.
Other Instructions
Steel-toed boots and uniforms will be provided. Tools will be provided. Physical requirements: Ability to stand up to 8 hours a day. Frequent lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking. Ability to lift truck tires and mount on vehicles. Must be able to lift and/or move heavy weight objects.
Salary
16.00/hr (eligible for student employee pay plan)
